Air Blowers in Hot Tubs

Air Blowers in Hot Tubs

What does an air blower do in a hot tub? The immediate answer is that they improve your water experience. The bubbles generated by the air blower provide a more exhilarating experience compared to a plain water hot tub bath.

Claims of therapeutic benefits have also been made for bubble baths. The benefits include greater stress relief and better penetration of body oils to provide intended benefits. The bubbles produced by several jets in a hot tub can convert it effectively into a type of bubble bath.

While benefits like the above are provided by air blowers, these equipment do create a lot of noise which detract from the relaxing experience. Because relaxation is one of the main objectives of using these, this problem is indeed a significant one. Manufacturers have been focusing on this problem and these days, blowers specifically designed to minimize or even eliminate noise are available.

Some manufacturers claim that by using their noiseless models, you can hear not only the drop of a pin but even the pop of a bubble! However that be, it is a fact that major improvements have been made in reducing operational noise by minimizing vibrations and in other ways. Use of rubber mounts for the motor and rubber cups to encase the fan, for example, can make for quiet operations.

Other options might be used to reduce noise. However, not all of these options provide ideal solutions. It is better to discuss the issue with people who are familiar with the issues and will also provide unbiased information.

Another issue of relevance when selecting an air blower is the ease of installation. Special designs that facilitate top or side mounting and tapered fittings can enhance quicker and simpler installation.

Quality of the components is yet another issue of relevance. You don’t want to replace your hot tub air blower every now and then. Use of materia

ls with superior impact strength and resistance to heat damage can prolong the life of the blower. Also check that the plumbing is good and that no water enters into the blower assembly.

Where a replacement is needed, it is best to replace the entire blower unit rather than try to repair a defective component like the motor. Also make sure that the replacement is compatible with the existing system, e.g. the voltage of the blower should match the controller’s.
