LX Whirlpool Flow Type Heater Instructions
Always read the instructions inside the box before fitting!
This kind of HEATER is especially to be used in Whirlpool Baths, Hot Tubs, Spas and Aquariums.
The heater is designed to work when the tub is full of water and regulate the temperature via a thermostatic controller. (Not Included)
It is very convenient and simple to install and use the LX heaters but basic safety precautions should always be followed.
The LX heater should be fitted and connected within the pipeline of the circulation system, and can also be fitted directly to the inlet / outlet of the circulation pump, make sure the flow direction of water flow complies with the direction of the heater.
2.1. The heater must be installed horizontally. For dimensions and positions of the heater support see the below chart.
2.2. The heater can be installed on either the inlet or the outlet of the circulation pump.
2.3. When cutting a specific length of PVC pipe make sure the the pipe and connectors are the same size.
2.4. Clean the PVC pipe then use a suitable PVC adhesive to connect the fitting and pipe together.
2.5. When connecting the fittings to the heater take care to make sure the O-ring is correctly seated and that the unions are not over tighten. Overexertion would cause damage.
2.6. The direction label must be visible after installation.
2.7. The live components (except for 12v low voltage) must be inaccessible to persons inside the Hot Tub, Spa, Bath...
2.8. Class 1 Appliances must be permanently connected to fixed wiring . Cables must not be long enough to go into or near to bathing or other areas.
3. Electrical Connections
3.1. The electrical installation must have an all poles disconnection system with contacts opening at least 3 mm
3.2. For continued protection against possible electric shock the LX units should be mounted to a solid base in accordance with these installation instructions.
3.3. The protection of the system should be based on a residual current device (RCD) with a rated tripping current not exceeding 30mA. The supply cable should comply with EMC standards.
3.4. The electrical connections must be carried out by a qualified electrician following strictly the "N60335-2-60" standards.
3.5. Make sure the earth cable connection is correctly fitted.
3.6. Wires serving as the equipotential bonding conductors must have a cross section of between 2.5mm and 6mm and need to be equipped with the correct terminals suitable for the receptical.
3.7. After the electrical connection, turn the power on, press the GFCI reset button, making sure it works and the power cuts off, and the reset connecting the power supply. If this fails replace the RCD with another and re test until the reset works and the power can be cut off easily.
3.8. If the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced by its manufacturer, service engineer or similar qualified electrician in order to avoid a hazard.
3.9. CAUTION: In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut-out, the LX appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility.
4. Controls and Operations
4.1. The minimum working pressure is 0.035 MPa. ( Pump minimum is 0.5hp clear flow and 1hp when filtered).
4.2. Repeat instructions on RCD (3.7)
4.3. If the temperature exceeds 60 Centigrade, the reset button will flick and cut off the power (creating an open circuit) and can only be reset by pressing down the reset button to its original position after the temperature has cooled down.
5. Controls Prior to Initial Setup
5.1. Check the mains voltage and frequency are according to the name plate.
5.2. After Installation of the LX heater is finished it is essential to check for water leaks from pipework and connections: filling water into the system and letting the pump operate for 30 minutes (make sure no air can enter the system at this point and all air is bled out of the heater and pipework prior to switching on), making sure no leaks occur when the pump is circulating.
5.3. If the heater does not start up try to locate the problem before continuing.
6. Start Up
6.1. Start the pump and heater electrically only when the suction and discharge pipes are connected to the corresponding inlets and outlets.
6.2. Apply voltage to the motor and suitably adjust the jets to obtain the desired flow.
7. Maintenance and Cleaning
7.1. The LX heaters do not require any special maintenance or programming. If the Hot Tub, Spa Bathtub or other is idle for a long period of time, it is recommended to dismantle, clean and store it in a dry, well ventilated place. If the supply cord is damaged (see section 3.8).
It is important to always read the instructions before connecting any electrical device.
